Wirtschaftsförderung Sindelfingen GmbH has analysed the retail trade throughout the city. The results are summarised in the “Sindelfingen Retail Compass for 2010/2011”.
Attractive specialist shops in the city centre and two shopping centres selling a wide range of products have a formative influence on Sindelfingen as a retail location.
With a total turnover of around 509,8 million Euro, the retail trade along with services, manufacturing industry and research and development are extremely important factors for the city.
With around 170 retail outlets, Sindelfingen city centre contains a large number of specialist owner-run shops whose products are ideally complemented by numerous service companies and different restaurants.
There are two main retail locations in Sindelfingen: the city centre with the Stern Shopping Centre and Ikea close by, and the decentral retail location in the east end of Sindelfingen with the Breuningerland Shopping Centre and surrounding specialist stores.

Sindelfingen's objective is to continue developing the retail location in general. In particular, both the retail trade in the city centre and shops near to residential areas will be improved. The city council wants to provide local customers with an attractive and varied range of shops.
