Sindelfingen is proud of its twin cities. They are a sign of an open and inquiring attitude by people towards different cultures. The political ties have long become genuine friendships which come from the heart. Some of these friendships have now lasted for decades.
German, French, Italian, Polish, Hungarian, Swiss and British people not only meet during the annual partnership evening on the evening before the International Street Festival on the third weekend of June to celebrate with one another and appear before a large audience. Private contacts are also keenly cultivated. The 3-day-long Street Festival itself is a meeting-point for revellers from every nation.
The oldest city partnership is with Schaffhausen in Switzerland: It goes back to 1952.The youngest twin city is Chelm in Poland; the agreement was signed in 2001.
